    Solved SPEECHLESS IN NEW ENGLAND

Your SQL contains Personnel.Rank twice so one of them is renamed Expr1011 As that is the first reference to that field, Access acts correctly in trying to use it. The error is yours not Access. Delete one of those in the SQL and it will work correctly

    20266 Operation not supported

Response from the Access team: The fix will be in the next Beta and CCP releases so hopefully sometime in the next week or so. I'll let you know when that happens and also test it myself

Access Europe User Group - Wed 7 Jan: Spot the Difference – A new style MsgBox for Access (Neil Sargent)

@tvanstiphout I didn't realise it worked either. Thanks from me also for info, it doesn't work with the built-in new style messages created by Access itself!

Access Europe User Group - Wed 7 Jan: Spot the Difference – A new style MsgBox for Access (Neil Sargent)

@Jason Lee Hayes @NeilSargent tried to reply to you earlier but, as a new member, his post was rejected as possible spam. This was probably as it included a link from your own post? Anyway, below is his response in full together with a test database which I haven't yet looked at

    20266 Operation not supported

As previously mentioned, the Access team were working on a fix and were planning to release it in stages starting with Beta Channel then CCP before moving to CC. The last message I received stated that MVPs would be informed when the fix rolled out. I have tested in the latest Beta channel...

Access Europe User Group - Wed 7 Jan: Spot the Difference – A new style MsgBox for Access (Neil Sargent)

I've just published an article describing different ways of customizing the Access message box as outlined in post #11 https://www.isladogs.co.uk/customize-access-msgbox/index.html The article includes details about three ways of changing Windows Ease of Access settings to adjust font size...

Access Europe User Group - Wed 7 Jan: Spot the Difference – A new style MsgBox for Access (Neil Sargent)

Hi Jason The new style messages have rounded corners in Win 11 as do all forms including Neil's custom form replicating the Access version. In Win 10, both have square corners. From memory, I think Neil deliberately left it so that Windows would automatically update the appearance according to...

Access Europe User Group - Wed 7 Jan: Spot the Difference – A new style MsgBox for Access (Neil Sargent)

Hi Jason Just tested this. It works well when the message form has no object behind it. However I got some odd 'ghosting' effects when I moved the form over another form or the nav pane or partly off screen to the left. Not looked into the reasons as yet. For anyone else wanting to try this...

Access Europe User Group - Wed 7 Jan: Spot the Difference – A new style MsgBox for Access (Neil Sargent)

@tvanstiphout I think you misunderstood my comments in post #16. I was suggesting that @DickyP used Windows accessibility and/or Office themes to modify the appearance of standard messages. Not that he wrote his own message boxes. Having worked on creating my own message box replacements, I know...

Access Europe User Group - Wed 7 Jan: Spot the Difference – A new style MsgBox for Access (Neil Sargent)

@DaveMD Thank you for taking the time to watch the video and for pointing out some of the excellent features that Neil built in to his replacement function which he worked very hard to create over several months.

Access Europe User Group - Wed 7 Jan: Spot the Difference – A new style MsgBox for Access (Neil Sargent)

@DickyP Whilst they clearly don’t suit you, for many people, the changes make the messages easier to read / act upon including the addition of colour to the default button. However, one of the points I was making is that anyone can modify the appearance of standard message boxes to suit...

Access Europe User Group - Wed 7 Jan: Spot the Difference – A new style MsgBox for Access (Neil Sargent)

As far as I am aware, Neil Sargent isn't an AWF member but I'm happy to alert him to any suggested code changes including that in post #12. Those who, like @Jason Lee Hayes and @CJ_London, were at the meeting will remember a lot of discussion about alternative ways of creating the 'all-round...

Access Europe User Group - Wed 7 Jan: Spot the Difference – A new style MsgBox for Access (Neil Sargent)

All companies (not just tech companies or indeed Microsoft), feel the need to refresh the appearance of their products every few years to avoid the risk of looking outdated and losing customers. With regard to Office apps and Access in particular, we all have our opinions about UI changes. Over...

Access Europe User Group - Wed 7 Jan: Spot the Difference – A new style MsgBox for Access (Neil Sargent)

Neil Sargent gave an excellent presentation to the Access Europe User Group on Wed 7 Jan which he called Spot the Difference – A new style MsgBox for Access. The session was interesting to developers not just for Neil replicating the new style message box itself but also for the development...

Using VBA? [My THINKING] to LINK a BE

If I had known about it 20+ years ago, I would probably have used the J Street Relinker rather than create my own version. Having said that, creating code for yourself is enormously beneficial both in terms of enhancing skills and personal satisfaction

I'm not Dave (who in fact is a pseudonym for the site owner, Jon) but for your info profile messages are visible to all. Better to send a direct message. Anyway, I'm not a site admin but the likely reason you are getting blocked is that new members cannot include links in their posts, not even...

Using VBA? [My THINKING] to LINK a BE

You can provide the same ability to swop between BE files as you have as the developer. However, only only one dataset would (or should) ever be connected at any time. As an example, here is a relink form from one of my an old databases for schools (circa 2010). You can tell how old it is as it...

Using VBA? [My THINKING] to LINK a BE

You only need one FE both for development purposes and for distribution. As Albert said, this can be linked to an unlimited number of BE files. The connection strings can be set using a local table or an external text file. As the developer, I preferred the local table approach but both work...

Solved Password the DB how to:

Do you mean this message when you add a password? If so, its both a standard message and normally nothing you need to worry about. Access uses record level locking or page level locking with the default being record level locking. Row level locking is the very old terminology for record level...
