    login page

Ken's reply makes sense as it is functionally the same as creating a login class (for those with long memories you'll remember using hidden forms as classes in Access 95 before they were formally introduced into Access). I always do this in a class I name 'ThisApp' which contains everything I...

Help with formatting decimal places in calculated query field

The query gives you the result of the calculation: formatting should be done when that result is used.

    Blinding Glimpse of the Obvious

Yeah, perhaps I should have phrased the questions as "Can anyone think of a GOOD reason why they shouldn't be doing this already?"

Quote from today's papers. "Cyber attack contingency plans should be put on paper, firms told" Can anyone think of a reason why they shouldn't be doing this already?

I assumed otherwise and that wasn't clear. However, you are just as right as me :)

VBA to print Word file and close is

Kens post above is a great solution, EXCEPT the original posted code didn't have a file to print! A new document cnreated based on a template is an unsaved document. JPR is not opening the document but making it visible. The 'print' option is exactly the same as editing a Word document for real.

VBA to print Word file and close is

This thread is a perfect example of the fundamental misuse of Word templates even by experienced Word users. You don't want to open the template but create a new document based on it (which JPR appeared to be doing). His problem would appear to be he is using Word.PrintOut rather than...

How to automate importing 31 .csv files into SQL Server?

Cheers - my memory was from long (long) ago and I couldn't seem to find up-to-date info - thanks.

How to automate importing 31 .csv files into SQL Server?

I know this thread has been solved elsewhere but the suggestion above would take multiple lines of code as the limit on the command line (as far as I can establish - please point me in the right direction if I'm wrong) is still 255 characters

    Online Annoyances

The explanations sound simple don't they? No hint of the trouble caused by undocumented 'minor' changes. With my problem I can understand the change of ticket number if I must, but I can see no valid reason for reorganising the csv file field order.

    Online Annoyances

I have a nice little tale about an annoyance. It is not even very important in the grand scheme of things. Nevertheless, it is annoying and unfortunately needs a bit of background to explain it. I have a database that I created way back in 2002 in Access97 and have modified and changed...

RegExp Added to VBA Library with Office Version 2508

Had thought about this subject - doesn't actually affect me - but will be a problem to those who distribute Access apps to customers, checking to see if the users have the right version of Access. Assuming they use RegExp, of course.

    Online Annoyances

After a happy hour of banging my head against a brick wall this morning I thought I'd start a thread where we can vent out spleen against stupid software. My experiences that really spring to mind are. Wanting to add a telephone number to an account which had, since I previously logged in, had...

RegExp Added to VBA Library with Office Version 2508

Just bought mine from Amazon at £29.99 in March 2023. Obviously more expensive now but I bought the equivalent from Amazon last year for my wife's Laptop for £34.75. Currently working through my databases to update to using VBA RegExp. All we need now is for MS to introduce a proper distinct...

Experience with Ms Project and Access?

Back in the day MS Project worked well integrated with Outlook and manipulating both with VBA (about the year 2005 last used on Office 2003.)

RegExp Added to VBA Library with Office Version 2508

I'm on 2021 bought in 2023 and never knowingly updated. RegExp is there and I 'v been testing it. For declarations and assignments I find I have to use the full VBA.RegExt, VBA.MatchCollection etc but it works well in the two databases I've tested it on.
