    All records in table disappeared

A combo will give a list of valid user names which could help someone break into the app as another user. OOPS - I hadn't seen the replies on this page when I replied

Solved My report does not fit the page in print preview.

Reduce the margins. Click the margins button in your ribbon to do so. If its still too big, then you will need to reduce the width of one or more controls ...or use A3 & get a new printer :giggle:

Add a Print Command button on a report that is viewed in Print Preview

I've just found this in the similar threads area over a year later. Just a quick update to say that although you cannot remove the QAT if the ribbon is visible, you can disable the QAT. Doing this prevents any existing QAT items being run as well as preventing new items being added. See section...

Close a report in Preview Mode with disabled menus & disabled right Click

Alternatively, you can reinstate the ribbon when the report is opened and remove it again when the report is closed. The attached example shows several ways of handling reports in an application with no ribbon (or in this case, no application window either). For more info, see Control...

Solved How many digits have I typed?

You omitted the .Text from the code. It won't work without that. The default property is .Value but the value is only set after the field has been saved. So you are currently testing for a non existent value. That means the length is null

    Encryption to access file

Sorry but although there is some good advice above, your comments are not all true. Macros can still be edited in an ACCDE as can tables and queries. The navigation pane is still available and any object can be renamed or deleted. If you change the file suffix from .ACCDE to .ACCDR it will be...

Continous form, beeping sound while mouse scrolling

LOL! Valid point. However, my own solution (which I'd mentioned before) is just to disable the Windows Beep in Control Panel whilst retaining all other system sounds. It works perfectly :D

Solved How to keep time in a table?

Standard practice is that calculated values should NOT be stored. Whilst it may SEEM to complicate matters for now, it will definitely simplify later coding issues!

Continous form, beeping sound while mouse scrolling

OK but do remember you can just disable sounds as a temporary measure whilst scrolling. In my opinion its a perfectly good workround . . . at least till someone works out a better method! ;)

Solved How to keep time in a table?

You're welcome. However I've just noticed your similar thread below which uses the correct approach. Store the start and end times (including the date portion). Calculate the difference between them in seconds as your duration .... but do NOT store the value as a separate field. Then display...

Solved How to keep time in a table?

Do bear in mind that dates and times are stored as double datatype numbers no matter how they are formatted. The integer part is the number of days since 30 Dec1899 and the decimal part represents the time where e.g. 06:00 = 0.25 ?Now 20/09/2021 10:48:26 ?CDbl(Now) 44459.4505092593 As a...

    Encryption to access file

I would also recommend moving the BE data to e.g. SQL Server. However, there are many things you can do within Access to protect the FE as well. See my article Improve Security 2. You can also encrypt the data itself and use disconnected ADO recordsets to prevent users accessing the BE at all...

    Error Checking

I do recommend it. I used CDO to send the emails to me 'silently' in order to prevent further disrupting the program flow. The time consuming part was adding the code needed to show precisely what was being done in order to trigger each error. However, the time spent as more than repaid in terms...

    Error Checking

I was referring to the comments made by the OP. We all take pride in checking our code carefully to try and ensure it works correctly. However as my post stated there are errors that will arise in normal use. I gave two examples but there are others. No matter how good our code, error handling...

    Error Checking

I'm very late to this thread and many of my own thoughts have already been expressed. However, I'm incredulous that any serious developer would treat it as a matter of pride that they do not use error handling in ACCDB or ACCDE files distributed to clients. Of course, like any experienced...

Temporary Table in Shared Front End

A much bigger challenge will be the time & effort needed to restore the application and/or data after corruption occurs
  19. isladogs

Temporary Table in Shared Front End

There is no problem with using a temp table in the front end However, each user MUST have their own copy of the front end database on the own workstation NEVER allow multiple users to share the same front end. Doing that WILL definitely result in corruption. Its not a matter of IF but WHEN...

    Language Translator

Whilst continuing to work on my own Translate & Speak app, I hit a problem when translating original text in a language using a non-Latin character set e.g. Russian, Chinese, Arabic. In such cases the output had nothing to do with the original text being translated. As the same issue affects...
