Does anyone know how i can make a field equal to the same value as in the last record added + 1 within a form?

I have set up a form within a form that allows the user to add records, delete records etc, while on the right there is a subform (in Table View). How do I allow the user to click on the records in the table to bring up the relevant record in the main form?
