Hi Wayne, Thanks for that. I am trying to do this as an update query not via a form - but I'll have a little play with dmax and see what happens. If anyone else has any suggestions, I'm all ears. thanks, Alex

Splitting a large table into many smaller ones

Hi, To avoid the mind-numbing tedium of have to use make-table queries loads of times, is there a quick (probably VBA-related) way to split a large Access table, of about 350000 records, down into 93 smaller tables, based on a key code field that identifies each group of records e.g. GBW102...

    Webpage hyperlink not working

Kevin, Got it to work...but not as you might have thought. Rather naively, I thought that Access could resolve "www.whatever.com" - after all, the web browsers have no problem with this format, but after seeing your MSN.com example, it occured to me that maybe I might need http:// in front of...

    Webpage hyperlink not working

Kevin, Problem with changing the field type within the table is that it is a SQL table and does not have a hyperlink property... and it is already a text field anyway (or 'varchar' in SQL). Changed the name of the field to 'Web', that didn't work either as you guessed. Yeah, realise that...

    Webpage hyperlink not working

OK chaps, still not working - maybe I've missed out something in my explanation that could be important. The form is called 'Meeting List' The text box on the form is called 'www' and the source field containing the web addresses is also called 'www' (the field source is from a query called...

    Webpage hyperlink not working

Thanks Kevin, but it's still returning the same runtime error. Running the pointer over the strhyperlink variable gives strhyperlink = "www.nameofwebsite.com" So it's picking up the site address, but it just can't open it. Although it's works OK when you have an explicit hyperlink on the...

    Webpage hyperlink not working

Thanks ... seems to be putting me on the right track. I've put 'Application.FollowHyperlink Me![www]' behind the OnClick event of the text box (www is the name of the field with the web addresses) Problem now is that when click on the address on the form, I'm getting a "runtime error 490 -...

Deleting associated records from linked tables

Thanks Pat, Put me on the right path. If anyone's interested for future reference, just set the relationship between the 2 tables in SQL Enterprise Manager (by right-clicking the Primary Key column). You can then delete as normal in Access and this will cascade delete all associated records...

Deleting associated records from linked tables

Chaps, thanks for that although I'm still having the same problem with the greyed out boxes. As a test I did a make-table on the links to create the 2 tables in Access format, and found it then allowed me to enforce integrity. So maybe Access has an problem forcing integrity with linked tables?

Deleting associated records from linked tables

Mile, 'Enforce Referential Integrity' along with 'Cascade Delete Related Records' check boxes are greyed-out. Do you know if there is any reason for this?

Deleting associated records from linked tables

Hi, I currently have 2 SQL tables linked in Access 2K. It is a one-many relationship, a main company details table linked to a multiple contacts table. Have created a form that looks at both tables and can alter details and delete individual contacts. However, now I'm trying to implement a...
