Using a query to change data in a field

Re: Using a query to change data in a field-RESOLVED Tried to find the Prefix field next to the title (that's what I read in the FAQs, so I could mark this issue as Resolved, but of course, I couldn't locate it, so this issue is Resolved. And Kudos to Mr. John Big Booty for his never ending...

    Report group headers

I hope I don't get in trouble for starting a new thread, but I can not find anything on the forum that has helped me with my little dilemma. I have a pretty nice report designed and I would like to add a Group Header (Access 2010). It's a basic report of a Name and Address File which is...

Using a query to change data in a field

Thanks! But I feel so bad when I make this kind of a dumb mistake and it causes someone (Y O U) to bang your head. And then it's really bad when you realize just how stupid you are...I just want to learn really bad and I really do try to find the answers in books and online helps, but I guess...

Using a query to change data in a field

Understood. Right. No wonder you're confused.:confused:It has taken me all this time to realize your first two screen shots are for the query (I think) that I had already done and I missed completely that the second set of shots are the "update" function. I couldn't get off the "select" function...

Using a query to change data in a field

If I haven't confused you enough, you really will be now.... I queried the original database table and pulled all of the "&" records and built a new table with those records only......In the original not all records had a "&" in the Title field;ie., Mr. & Mrs., so I now have a table with just...

Using a query to change data in a field

Maybe my problem is that I have already queried my database and selected all of the records containing an "&" in the "Title" field. So I was trying to just change the "&" in those records residing in my query from the "&" to "and". Is that the problem. Should I be performing a select query...

Using a query to change data in a field

I thought I did. But maybe that is the problem. I posted a reply late last night and I attached a screen shot, but I don't see it in the thread. I'm attaching it again. Thanks.

Using a query to change data in a field

Hi.....I tried it I thought and then when I looked at the drop down window yours look different from mine....No wonder it didn't work for me. I must be on the wrong ribbon or something. And since I got this new computer, I can even capture a screen shot (or either I'm using the wrong keys-who...

Using a query to change data in a field

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I haven't tried it yet, but I will. I don't understand why there seems to be so many steps. I also never dreamed I needed to do anything except enter correct information in the "Criteria" area of the dropdown window. So confused.:confused::confused: I don't...

***//Report width is wider than page width

Wow! I am so sorry guys....I'm not only new to Access, I'm also new to Forums....I did research and read everything I could find with a similar title, but none of the answers worked for me. I thought I was supposed to start a new thread. I didn't realize that "reply" would keep me on the same...

Using a query to change data in a field

:mad::mad: I'm in a real crunch, and if you have time, you may want to look at my intro-I'm dumb, know very little about Access (any version-I have 2010) and I really need to replace and ampersand-&-in like a million records (I need not input the data) because I now know that Access doesn't...

To anyone who may be out there. I read this thread with regard to report width and I'm having the very same problem......The only thing is I've tried all of the suggestions and the pitiful part is the very first one seems to make the most sense to me, but I can't even find the edges to drag in...
