Taking control of db that's split in new enviroment?

Thanks, but, here's a silly question, isn't that the same thing I was trying to accomplish with configuring the FE to point to the BE via an IP address like the example IP address below? \\10.10.1.000\sosvr1\epl database\epl_fe AND \\10.10.1.000\sosvr1\epl database\epl_be If so, this did...

Taking control of db that's split in new enviroment?

Can someone help with this problem? I created a database for another department that I split and configured the FE to point to the BE via an IP address on my server at my office. It worked perfectly. The department moved to another location outside of our building. I placed the database on...

    Security & Modified Form

Security Issue Resolved The resolution to this problem was to enable the user, "InfoProc" to read, write, update, etc., to the table from which the form uses. This was too simple. Autoeng suggested that I download the Security Add-in Manager. He says it's really simple to use instead of the...

    Security & Modified Form

    - I do not totally understand the "Jet" in Access/"Jet" security. - Yes, I saw a way to add security to an individual control when I created the security. - Which tree do I need to bark at? - No, the form does not work correctly on my PC when I opened it as the user, "InfoProc". The issue with...

    Security & Modified Form

This is new ... I noticed after playing around with the Administrator's security/permissions, that after assigning the UpdateUsers under the Administrators ... (I may not be articulating this correctly...bare with me) I could now log on as the User and the button on the form worked that was...

    Security & Modified Form

I don't see how my copy failed, being that no one was in the db when it was opened and the correct version is available to the user, even me, when I log on as both the user or Admin ... in both the live database and in the testing area. Your thoughts? Is there something that I am missing ...?

    Security & Modified Form

Thanks, but I am only using one version and I am aware of the correct file for this project. Additionally, I just spoken with an Instructor who is well versed in Access. He stated that there are known instances of gliches such as this. He advised me to elimate the existing security files and...

    Security & Modified Form

Please help ... what did I not do correctly? When modifying a form in the administrator mode - I can modify the design of the db without problems (I modified an 'Add' button on a form) and it works! I've copied the .fe, .be and .bak to the live directory. But when a user logs in and accesses...

    Security & Modified Form

Thanks Pat ... but I've done everything you have stated in your response ... and no one is in the live database while I am modifying it. I actually work in a "testing area" elsewhere on the server.

    Overall Security Setup

Ok! I did it! I un-joined the new db with the new workgroup that I created this afternoon by re-joining the workgroup administrator.exe to the default system.mdw file. Now I can open up other access db's without a security prompt. And ... because I finally placed the command in the db's...

    Overall Security Setup

How do I un-join the database to the security file? I have placed the command in my shortcut and it works. I want to be able to open other access db's without security. Thanks!

Thank you ... I was about to totally delete the .mdw file.

    Overall Security Setup

Ok, Thanks. But how do I undo the default system.mdw? How do I call the custom one from the command line when opening the database.

    Overall Security Setup

I have attempted to setup security for another database almost 6 to 12 months ago. When I attempted to setup security for a totally different database, I still see the old security settings for the previous db. What do I do? I there an easier way to setup security for each system that does not...

    Security

YES - You have a user who needs to directly open a datasheet but no-one else needs (or is allowed) to open the datasheet? All others besides this one user MUST go through a form? But wouldn't it be easier to set up user/group permissions?

    Security

How do I add security for a datasheet for one user only with a click of a button? The other users will use a form that does not require security. Thanks!
