    Database Sharing...

Gizmo, Spikepl, I am working for a government department where people are just too inept or lazy to copy the front end into their own my documents. I could do it myself for them but they all have individual logons, work various shifts across a 24 hour period from many different offices. I guess...

    Database Sharing...

Gentlemen, I have developed a database that needs to be used by up to 30 people (but probably no more and 2 or 3 at the same time). It has a front/back end split. However, I am unable to install the front end on the users PCs (No privileges) so the FE.mdb and the BE.mdb sit on the network. All...

    Need Help wtih time function

I think Plog is right in this instance. If you google 'Access Immediate If' and remember to use # around your time or date. IIF(#01/01/2014# > #01/01/2013#, yes, no). However, this isn't something you would normally store in a table. Use a query to display what you want...

    Missing data, but not null...

By way of a follow up the original developer has used quite a few listbox look ups on fields. My query was replacing Staff ID’s with Staff names. Personally I don’t like seeing this, I prefer to do my look ups on forms or reports. Using Len() allowed me to spot what was occurring :-)

    Missing data, but not null...

Troops, I have a table with approx 2500 records. The StaffID field (a long integer) has lots of blank data. However when I use ‘Is Null’ as a query criteria it only returns 14 rows. They are not zeros (0). Is there anything else can use to search out these rows? Then I can use an IF to replace...

    Interesting Report Problem

And the code that opens the report is... rptName = Me.lstReport DoCmd.OpenReport rptName, acViewNormal, , _ "[Date Open]Between CDATE('" & Me.txtStartDate & "') And CDATE('" & Me.txtEndDate & "')" Using CDATE ensures the correct dates are pulled from the...

    Interesting Report Problem

Ok, I’m posting this in the interests of thoroughness. As I stated in my introduction I’ve been away from development for a few years (teaching Maths) which would explain these schoolboy errors. The code has been moved from the Report_Activation to the ReportHeader_Format event. The code now...

    Counting on a Report

How about grouping by area and adding =Count(Started) in the detail section (in a textbox control source)..? :-)

    Interesting Report Problem

namliam, you were heading in the right direction. Unbeknownst to me the report was not even filtering correctly because it was interpreting my entries as American format. I used the following code and I'm now getting the data I expect in the reports. DoCmd.OpenReport rptName, acViewPreview, ...

    Interesting Report Problem

Hi namliam, the data is entered as dd/mm/yyyy and the report seems to be returning the correct number of records, so the wherecondition is working. The report is bound to a query. It displays perfectly fine in preview, just not when I use DoCmd.OpenReport rptName, acViewNormal, , _...

    Interesting Report Problem

Morning Gentlemen. I have the following code in my report. All I want to do is show the dates the report is filtered on in the report header. These are the text boxes txtStart and txtEnd. The title is “List of jobs between txtStartDate and txtEndDate”. Or of the user doesn’t select a date then...

    Good morning from Gatwick

Morning Gentlemen :-) I'm an old Access developer who has just returned to the scene after a few years out teaching Maths. Without giving away too many official secrets I've got a temporary detachment at a home office IT department and have been given the task of creating the IT helpdesk...
