    why would it? my hourly wage is coming from my employee table, it's used in a query for my finances. so when i bring up the query to show all the finances it will update the avg salary everyday! you post doesn't make sense dude!

    I've worked it out!! (in case anybody cares) all i needed to do was create a new query, put in the dates and the total mins for each employee then as the total for the total mins set this as SUM voila :D

    (look at jpeg!) So i've got total mins worked which can be formated into hours/mins later. i need to work out the total mins for one date eg 07/05/2004 this would be i think it's 480+240 or whatever. anyway - i can't find a way of adding these totals together please advise! :eek:

    Sorry Parker - i keep getting confused The time worked is the information from calculating the rosta. to change the time worked i would need to change the rosta. so these will have the same information -- why would i need to record the same information twice?

    Employees don't work double shifts, if there were to work say day shift and night shift then the start would be say 09:00 and finish would be 23:00. but this is a rare occurence as for changing the shifts, if an employee doesn't work this shift then the user can delete that record of them...

    for your next trick: take a look at jpeg, it's the warning box that displays this information saying the primary key blah blah it's confusing, and the user won't have a clue what that means how can i get this to read something like "You already have that employee working on that day" Cheers
