Ha!! You CAN'T read minds???? :D:D Thanks again! Bob, thanks for the post. I actually set up another import form (the form is to be opened every so many seconds by the switchboard form to look for these text files and import them if they are there, then the import form closes, all in the...

    Importing Text File with FileSystemObject-problem

What a moron! I never even looked at the text file for empty lines at the end!!! Thank you for the tip! Cannot get the empty lines out, as ARL, the instrument manufacturer (X-Ray Fluorescence spectrometer, if you were wondering), writes the software, including how the text files are structured...

    Importing Text File with FileSystemObject-problem

Good day, I'm working on a project for a sister plant and their laboratory. We want their lab instruments to spit an instrument test result file out to that computer's hard drive, and then Access will check for its presence, and open the text file and import its contents into 2, parent-child...

Windows 7 and Access 2007 tables

Made a new database in Access 2007. Made a new table with an autonumber pk field and put one test field in the table also. Made a list of values in Excel and then pasted them into the new table. Only 50-something records. Same result; table and Access lock up. I'm out of ideas . I...

Windows 7 and Access 2007 tables

They did, when I was still Access 2003 and Win XP last week. Might be a corruption...I will try a few things to test that.

Windows 7 and Access 2007 tables

Just tried running 2 hotfixes from MS, after having made sure I was at SP2 on Access; still no luck. Pretty weird.

Windows 7 and Access 2007 tables

We're not running anything other than Orifice 2007 . I un-installed Office 2007, rebooted, cleaned the registry with CCCleaner, the rebooted, then installed Office 2007 again. Made sure I was running SP2 on Office 2007 by downloading it from MS and running the upgrade, then rebooting and...

Windows 7 and Access 2007 tables

Did you ever find a solution to this??? I just got a new laptop at work with Win 7 and Office 2007, and am experiencing the same problem. I have tried making a new Access 2007 database and importing the tables into the new database. Still the same thing. I'm still searching the archives, but...

design a form for PC Tablet to capture Signature

Search on my name; I posted on this a few years ago and answered some questions on it for someone else. I set up an Access app to allow sign-in for training classes. The company I bought the pad from had sample DB's with all the code needed to get set up, and it worked pretty well.

    Two different Switchboards same DB

Don't know about simplifying your report without more information, but yes you can have more than on switchboard. I have 3; one for me, one for 4 different lab workstations, and one for all other users. I have a startup form that is invisible. It uses Environ to see the userid, and opens the...

Microsoft SQL need help with an autonumber

We ended up making a seeding table for these 2 tables, and wrote a public module to grab the value and update it in the seed table. Seems to be a good workaround.

Microsoft SQL need help with an autonumber

Ahhh. I'm way new to SQL Server, and am in the process of uploading my backend Access 2003 .MDB's to SQL Server, with help from some outside IT help. I have a couple of sample submission forms that were bugging out over this issue, and thanks to your post I now know why. The tables behind these...

    Question Map Inquiry

Image files, like labels, have an on-click event also. You could go so far as to use an image program to take your image and save it into separate image files, so that you could put it back together on your form like a jig-saw puzzle, and each piece of the whole image has an on-click event...

Highlight a recordpost in a report depending on content

Look at conditional formatting. In Design view, select the items in the Detail section of the report to be highlighted, and go to the "Format" dropdown menu and then to "Conditional Formating...". This will let you set up the desired format under the desired set of conditions.

    Incorporting Electronic Signature

We had a vendor in here last year, who calibrates our rail line scales. They had a program set up for their jobs on a laptop, and they had a digital signature pad for clients to sign off jobs with. I liked their pad more than our Topaz, but we were already invested. Good luck.

    Incorporting Electronic Signature

If you're talking about an actual signature taken on an electronic tablet, then I might be able to steer you in the right direction. I set up an Access app for our Safety department for employee training a couple of years ago. I bought a couple of electronic signature pads from a company called...

    CSV File import question

Well, I got what I needed after more searching. I found a text import example at Roger Carlson's site, and the example showed me how to take strings out of the text file, from in between the commas. I'll post my code here, with acknowledgment and thanks to Roger, in case anyone else runs across...

    CSV File import question

Good Afternoon, I'm working with comma-delimited CSV files, trying to import the contents into 2 related tabled (1-Many). I've done quite a bit of looking today, both here and in Help, but did not see the answer I needed. I've attached a copy of typical CSV file that I'm working on. The first...
