How to make Combo Box populate a different Form

Nope, I think you nailed it! I only have one column set on the combo box and its the salesman's names (text), not both like you suggest. The table is set up with a SalesmanID (PK) and then Salesman (regular text), nothing extra. I probably know only 8-10% of Access, if that, so anything and...

How to make Combo Box populate a different Form

So I thought I had it :o Looks like after running a query for my control source, its made the combo box useless. I did the query so my form would display the Salesman's name, not the ID. After doing this, neither option works below: For the Command Button... DoCmd.OpenForm "Main_Customers"...

Doubt about "table" with "1-many" relationship

Well, I was searching the database with your exact question ...I've yet to find anything but if I do, I will post the link. I just hope to find it before someone posts the answer due to available time. For me, I have the following table: Vehicle (PK) Vehicle_ID (FK) Make_ID (FK) Trim_ID...

How to make Combo Box populate a different Form

I know what you mean, but my plan was to take away the ability to close the form. The combo box is being made on a form that will allow the user to navigate the DB. You select the salesman and there will be several options for the salesman at that point - see statistics, pull sold customers...

How to make Combo Box populate a different Form

Thanks, I got it by the command button opening the customers form and having the control source reference the other forms combo box... [forms]![Salesman_Form]![combo2] Thanks!

    Familiar question for everyone

Thank you, I got it....had to make the control source a query and add this as a criteria under the salesman: [forms]![Salesman_Form]![combo2] So it simply pulls the salesmans name from my other form and filters the new form with only the salesmans customers. Thanks again! John D

How to make Combo Box populate a different Form

So I have seen this all throughout the forums but it all has to do with the same form and not a different one. I am utterly stuck with this. Goal: Have a basic form that has a combo box that displays the salesman for a car lot. User then selects a name out of the combo box. Now - there is a...

    Familiar question for everyone

You make perfect sense and I have no idea why I didnt think of that. Now its a matter of doing it! I love trial and error - at least I have the game plan down. Thank you And yes, the tables have been created and all the fields are whats shown in the picture and I have yet to decide if I was...

    Familiar question for everyone

Trim, Body, and Make (ford, chevy, dodge...)are lists of whats available yes. A break down of this DB is to achieve one thing - organization. I do use a sales planner (old pencil and paper way) to track prospective customers that have come onto the car lot, but its messy and costly. 2nd, I...

    Familiar question for everyone

Been a year since being on this forum and its been a year since using Access. That being said - I dont remember a thing, especially when I hardly knew anything to begin with. I am attempting to build a simple database that can track prospective and sold customers. Attached is a picture...

    Slow Load Time

Hello all, I have a continuous form that is slow on loading a portion of the code. The form is designed to pull students who need to be either warned or terminated based off of their GPA. Below is the code that is delayed in being displayed on the form: Public Function...

    mysterious run-time error

I have a simple note section on my form (data type set to memo). This is where my staff enters any notes when they speak to a student. For some reason, on a handful of records (3-5 of 3,000 records) a run-time error occurs when the user attempts to edit or add anything to the notes. Does...

    Relationships

Fixed the problem I went into Indexes and for some reason it had duplicates of the PK's and sometimes it tripled it. So, I deleted the extra Index's and it worked after. My only question is this - We need the name (generally supervisor) of the person who can verify there employment. This is...

    Relationships

Pat, I am recieving an error when I attempt to make StudentsID & SupervisorID a multi-field PK: Invalid Index Definition I tried playing with the indexes a little and I still recieved the error. Audit Trail

Come to think about it Ghudson, Im not an administrator on the main DB here at the college but can go into design view and edit the forms, run my own queries etc. The only thing that I cant do, is edit the linked tables. ....thats just scary

    Audit Trail

I would assume that you would create an entirely different table to run this function considering its not record specific?

    Relationships

I did some research and Pat Hartman made this response in a thread: Does this mean that I do or do not need a PK on my junction tables, because the junction tables have essentially two PK's from the other tables and if im understanding this all - they are considered FK's when on the Junction...
