Ouma's Guide to getting ahead in IT

You can also convince the business/customer that they don't really know what they want and that they should follow YOUR advice!! I know a lot of techies who earn their vittles with this technique.

    Throw the bums out

The key statement in that sentence is "earners." The super rich out of site people aren't technically "earners." They're owners. That statement is extremely misleading in this context.

Senators Obama, Clinton, Biden and Dodd Vote AGAINST English as our Official Language

Whatever gets legislated as an "official language" will remain irrelevant as long as we remain a multi-lingual environment. And we are. To cite just one example: some stores (Home Depot) now have English/Spanish signage. And for good reason: it may expand their clientele. Limiting language will...

    Images in cells...

Excellent! I am able to embed the image in a cell as an OLE Object and the image appears on reports! The only new problem I have is, if I try to publish it with Word or Excel, the image doesn't show. I've tried playing around with the properties and the form, but with no results. Anything...

Everything was going along okay, but one day it became read-only for no reason. Once everyone got out of the DB it...

Summing multiple columns in the same query...

Summing multiple columns in the same query...

Hello! I'm new here, and I'm back into Access after a few years of not using it. What I'm trying to do seems simple, but I can't seem to get the sytax down. I have 6 columns that have dollar figures in them. I want to get the totals for all 6 columns to show in one field. I'm using the...
