Hi I have resolved the problem using examples within this forum, the answer was to create projections. simply multiplying the unknown quantity by the individual percitile of known values calculated by dividing each row total by the total known value amout and converting to a percentage.

Hi & thanks for replying, I use a pivot table because it groups the values of ages as well as all the unknown ages. and suppresses the other columns from view. A formula would be great yet its not the method that matters its the result the counts. Regards, Ethos.
