Win10 file folder views driving me NUTS

I hate all these 'decisions' Windows makes for you. I wish I could shut most of it off. Thanks for the info. All I want is a default for new folders, and nothing else. Windows, it appears, cannot give me that.

Win10 file folder views driving me NUTS

I am working in Windows 10. I am wanting to set a default view for NEW folders as LIST view, DESCENDING sort without affecting existing folders. I asked for some help, but the "know-it-all" in my office ended up applying this view to my entire folder structure before I could stop him. "Oh, I...

Can I restrict which macros will run by active sheet?

Sorry. I don't have the opportunity to check back as often as I would like. And, yes, you are correct. I would like to make it so that if I run the wrong shortcut, perhaps the only thing that happens is that I get a dialog box telling me so. So, I guess there has to be some comparison of...

Can I restrict which macros will run by active sheet?

I have a workbook with several sheets in it. Each sheet has macros to perform certain functions, like copy/paste, move input data to a table, delete certain cells' contents, etc. I'm concerned about hitting the wrong shortcut for the macros and running the wrong process on the wrong sheet...

    Table dependencies - ARGH!

Nothing additional showed in the Relationships window so I just deleted the table, built one from scratch and formatted each field one at a time. Not sure what that residual relationship was... I'll have to experiment to see if it recurs. Was hoping someone had seen that problem before...

    Table dependencies - ARGH!

Hi all. For a legal-case management database, I had tables parent OurFirmsTable and child OurLawyersTable. Using the FirmName field in OurFirmsTable, I would choose from a dropdown in a case-related form and pull the personnel list to be viewed in the form. Then, I wanted a table for...

Sorting a call log continuous subform

Can you help me with the syntax? In MainForm, I have EntrySubform and NotesSubform. EntrySubform is for data entry to the table, NotesSubform for querying and displaying the notes after Submit button is pressed. In the Entrysubform Submit button OnClick event property, how do I refer to the...

Sorting a call log continuous subform

Thanks guys. Just before seeing your answer, I finally found a couple old threads on the subject. Looks like you're absolutely right... two subforms is the answer, one for data entry and one for querying the data. Thanks! Now... if I make a new entry in SubForm1, how do I get SubForm2 to...

Sorting a call log continuous subform

There is no query in the form. The subform is based on a subtable with a 1-many relationship on the main form's table's keyfield. The sort works for records already entered... it's just that the next entry record is at the bottom.

Sorting a call log continuous subform

Hi all. I have a call log in a subform (subform is based on a table). Simplest description is Date, Initials, Note. I'd like to sort on the Date descending, which I did in the OrderBy property of the Date control. But, I also want the new entry to be at the top... but it's at the bottom and I...

Need to Q on Mainform control and 1 other entry

Union Query. I haven't done one of those in quite a while, and it never came to mind. Thanks! I will practice that and then try it out.

Need to Q on Mainform control and 1 other entry

I need a query to use as the source for a combo box dropdown for a control in a spreadsheet-format subform. I have a table of firm names (FirmsTable) with a FirmName field, and a related table with the names of the attorneys working at those firms (AttorneysTable) with an AttorneyName field...

Setting Short Date as my default

Thanks for the reply. However, your first answer outlines exactly what I am trying to avoid doing. Your second answer only modifies what the short date looks like and does not set it as the default in Excel. Your third answer, if it works, only applies to workbooks I create and not all the...

Setting Short Date as my default

Hello. I'd like to make the short date format of mm/dd/yy as my default. When I search on 'setting short date as default' all I find is setting the short date format default in Windows, which is not what I want. Currently, when I type a date the format comes up dd-MMM. I don't want to...

    Exponential format... without the exponent

Incredible. That worked. I tried all kinds of different custom formats and couldn't get it to work. I obviously have some reading to do. THANKS!! Just a heads up for anyone using this: Any values rounding to a whole number will be shown with the decimal but no trailing zero (e.g. 2992 will...

    Exponential format... without the exponent

I've been asked by a coworker if it is possible to display entries in a cell as if they were divided by 1,000. He does an extraction from his legacy database and pastes the results into excel. He *could* paste the data in another section and write formulae that divide by 1000 in his display...

Activity log database - combo box queries

Hello all. It's been a long time since I wrote my own database, so I'm getting jammed up on some things I used to know... and any help is greatly appreciated. I've attached my database as I have it now. I am trying to create what amounts to an activity log. I have created my main...

Simple Q on a new DB

I have deleted that table now. Given the time available to think about this, I seem to remember using "cascading combo boxes" in a form... and I think that might work well here. So, in a single form, I'd like to select the SUBJECT in a combo box control, then choose the subject-related...

Simple Q on a new DB

Thanks. I was going to use that for a query on a combo box for the Subjects control. I can't remember if I have to have that relationship or not.
