Would someone kindly look at my dsum syntax. I am getting a #Error when I run it. Thanks.

Sort months logically and not alphabetically

Thanks, pog! The rearrangement of the group/sort order did the trick, and the report looks great. I appreciate all your help. A

Sort months logically and not alphabetically

Please look at my report. I did what you said and sorted on MonthofYear in report design view and still get an Alpha sort on WithdrawalMonth in column one. Thanks again. A

Sort months logically and not alphabetically

I am trying to use the query to create a report showing students withdrawal dates grouped by month of year, but, whereas the query shows the months in the proper order, my report doesn't do that. It sorts alphabetically and not logically (jan, feb, mar). Thanks for your help and suggestions. I...

Sort months logically and not alphabetically

I'm posting a mini version of my problem, but with the same elements. There is a student table, and a query. From that query I have been trying to create a report showing student withdrawals, grouped by month and in each grouping showing the students and date or withdrawal (sorted ascending)...

Sort months logically and not alphabetically

I believe it sorted correctly. The attachment shows how it ran. I will post a mini version of my db tomorrow, showing the same data. Thanks for all your help, pog. Andy

Sort months logically and not alphabetically

Something is wrong in this query, because when I create a report based on it, I still get the alpha sort in column one (feb, jan, mar), and that's with a sort on my number field. Please see attached. And, thanks again. A

Thanks, plog! I'll make the adjustments and try again. Andy

Sort months logically and not alphabetically

I added the MonthName function and I am attaching my query design which runs fine. However, when I use this query to make a report, and group on month, it continues to sort alphabetically. There is something I am not understanding or communicating correctly, and I apologize for that. But, thanks...

Sort months logically and not alphabetically

I have a minor dilemma I need help with. I have a report (based on a query)which informs staff of students who withdrew from our school, and the month and date they withdrew (sorted ascending). I am grouping by month and it looks like the attachment I've included. It works well enough, but...

Nested IIF statements in a query expression

Looking for that 'IS' caused me to miss the Man City upset. But, it was worth it.

Nested IIF statements in a query expression

I figured it out: Between statements cannot have IS in the syntax. For example, "is Between 50 and 100" will give you the syntax error. Remove the 'is' word and it works. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while.

Thanks spikepl for the help. I will do that. Appreciate your help. Andy

Nested IIF statements in a query expression

Thanks, jdraw. "Table A" is a calculated field of a student's performance in number of days. For example, a 3 means the student is three days ahead of target. A -5 for a student means the student is five days behind target. So, if Table A=-5, I want my expression to place that student in the...

Nested IIF statements in a query expression

Thanks, Spikepl. I did make on IIF statement work (the first one). The IIFs that follow are all ranges between two negative numbers, and that's where I get the syntax error. I've also looked up examples of proper syntax involving Between conditions, and tried them. It's got to be something I...

Nested IIF statements in a query expression

I tried Pog's suggestion: IIF([TableA] is between -1 and -9 And I am still getting an incorrect syntax message. Here is what I tried: IIF([TableA] is Between -1 and -9, "Behind Schedule 1-9 Days", IIF([TableA] is Between -10 and -14, "Behind Schedule 10-14 Days", IIF(TableA] is Between -15...

Nested IIF statements in a query expression

In an expression, I am getting a syntax error message when I try to run the query with nested IFF statements involving numbers in different ranges. Would anyone please help me with the correct syntax. Thanks very much. =IIF([TableA]>-1,"On or Ahead of Target", IIF([TableA] is between...
