    forcing character length

Thanks for your reply Travis. I ended up figuring it out. I actually needed spaces between the Z and the ID number, not zeros. At any rate, the correct code follows: ="*Z" & Format([Forms]![frmRcv]![identity_column], "@@@@@@@@@@") & "*"

    forcing character length

I have the following control source of a text box on my report. ="*Z" & [Forms]![frmRcv]![identity_column] & "*" This basically lets the ID number (identity_column) be read by a barcode scanner, and puts a Z in front of it. Works fine. However, the system we're scanning it into requires...

    barcodes on reports

Casey and Jonathan, Thanks for the help both of you. It was just that the Z needed to be capitalized and in quotes after the *. How sad that I spent so much time on this. This is the working end result: ="*Z" & [Forms]![frmRcv]![identity_column] & "*" Thanks!

    barcodes on reports

Not sure if I understand you. Are you saying that you added a field to your query called Barcode, and in the Criteria, you added "*z" & [ProductNumberField] & "*" Then you just reference the Barcode field on the report?

    barcodes on reports

I need to print barcodes on my reports. I have just come to find out that our ERP system can only read the barcodes if they are preceded by a Z. I've tried to accomplish this, but the barcodes are not being read correctly. This is the code for my barcode before (when it worked correctly) and...

    Newbie If...Then question...please help

I appreciate your reply Pat, but the problem is that I'm pulling all of the info for my application from a 1/2 Million dollar software package, and thus it is not feasible or even possible for me to change something within that system. The more likely scenario is that I've probably been pointed...
