Linking many forms with the same record (1 Viewer)

I am working on a student data base and have many fields to monitor. I have tried creating a Navigation form and a Tab form to be able to monitor all of the necessary fields at a glance. In both cases I have connected the forms to a main table that has one relation to many tables. The main problem I am having is that I can't figure out how to link the forms / tabs so the same student follows through all of the pages. i.e. I have a tab for contact info, learning system progress, and another third party level progress. Each form/tab has the student ID# with is the related field in the tables. When I start with one student on the contact form/tab then click on the progress tab I am sent to a default student. Please advise. :banghead:
