OK, this isn't world shattering, but it's weird as anything.

I have a database to track keys issued.
Very simple.

One form has a field for Date Issued.

I can key in the date with no problem.
But, if I use the shortcut (Ctrl/Shift/:) it puts the date in but has 2020 as the year.

Anybody know why this would happen, or are we just dealing with more Twilight Zone stuff?

Thanks

What shortcut was that really? The emoji clearly wasn't intended.

Shortcut key is the Control key with the colon-semi colon key. I entered it in wrong in the first post.
It's supposed to put today's date in the field.

I'd never heard of that so I looked it up at https://support.office.com/en-us/article/keyboard-shortcuts-for-access-70a673e4-4f7b-4300-b8e5-3320fa6606e2

You hadn't got it quite correct!

Just tested and both work perfectly for me

I have rarely used the time method, but have used the date method for as long as it has been available.

In fact, I have often used both as ^; {space} ^{shift}; to put date and time separated by a single space when making a log entry that needed to be time-stamped.

OK, thanks all.

I'm sorry I didn't type in the shortcut keys correctly, but I've been using both of them for years with no issues.

The problem is, in this one db only, when I try to use the shortcut key to enter today's date, the year it puts in is not right.

example:

12/19/2020 instead of 12/19/2018

Obviously, i have a setting wrong somewhere and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction to save me some time.

I'll keeping searching and will update if/when I find the solution.

Again, Thanks All.

The short cut inserts the current date as per the computer settings. The post by Gasman in #5 was to check if your computer was set to year 2020

I tried the
? Date () suggested by GasMan and got the correct date 12/19/18.

When I use it in Excel, it gives me the right date.

And when I use the shortcut in a different Access db on the same computer, it also acts correctly.

Seems to be something specific to this one db.

Well, you know this is going to drive me buggy, till I find the glitch.

Thanks everyone, you've helped me narrow my focus.

Is the Autokeys macro at play here? It can be used to override the normal short cut key behaviour.

Or possibly an auto correct entry?
Does it still happen if you use the four digit year setting?
