Amazon has settled on Northern Virginia and New York for its new headquarters. Denver and other cities wine and dine the family but moving all these part-time no-benefit jobs there didn't work out. The “search for a second headquarters” PR stunt worked like a charm as a frenzy of third-rate cities begged and bribed Amazon with tax breaks and wild infrastructure plans.
“Amazon’s HQ2 search was not a contest but a con. Amazon will soon have 3 HQs. And guess what? The Bezos family owns homes in all 3 cities”
See Attachment of the NY Post - Queens Ransom

One New York Democrat is already moving to block the Amazon deal with legislation to take $1.7 billion of taxpayer subsidies to pay for New Yorkers’ student loan debt.
Perhaps a newfound hatred of Amazon will finally unite the right and the left in this country.

Tax Subsidy for the Wealthy - to gain Part-time jobs with no benefits.
Another report shows that 40% of Amazon employees get Public Welfare due to the low wages of part-time jobs.

Actually, though it is partly off topic, you can look at the way pro sports somehow cajoles and outright THREATENS major cities to build a newer, bigger, better stadium or they will pick up their team and go elsewhere. Witness the furor over the Oakland Raiders moving to Las Vegas. You just KNOW that Vegas can offer lots of advantages, right? And the taxpayers salivate over having their own team in a given venue - but it is also the taxpayers who pay for the stadium but then the team owner rakes in the money based on sweetheart deals that were used to entice the owner to finalize the move.

Another form of tax subsidy to the wealthy - to get an NFL team into a stadium where the state cannot make any money by the time the owners get it all parceled out.
