The First Test starts in about 12 hours at the Gabba.

FYI It is really Wooloongabba which is situated on the southern side of the river/city of Brisbane.

Brisbane has been having lots of afternoon storms of late with some hail. The biggest hail has been about the size of a golf ball. I said that to say that I think the First Test may end up in a draw due to rain.

The series is a different story. I believe the little urn will come back to where it belongs with 3 Australian wins.

Not a bad start on Day 1 by your boys... at close of play 273 - 8, we need a quick despatch of the trailing wickets on day two and then give us something to go out...

Oh Dear Oh Dear...

A batting collapse by the England boys...all out for a paltry 136 runs... My school team used to score more runs than that...!!!

The 1st Test is yours to Lose now my friend...

The Rain has arrived.

It is 1:00 AM with good steady Rain. I would think that it will be clear tomorrow but I do not have any idea what this will do to the pitch.

Two more days to go.

This link shows the weather radar. It is currently set on Brisbane 512 Km. You can change it to any of the cities where the Tests will be played. Hope you enjoy.

Not looking good for England.

After the declaration they are currently 2 for 24 with only a few minutes to go for the day. (Edit)

England need 561 more runs to win.

Almost the end of day four. I can hear lots of thunder, and the sky is dark.

I live about 10 Kilometres from the Gabba. I very much doubt that there will be any more play today.

There will be plenty of time tomorrow for an Aussie win.

Well the weather did clear and England got to bat again.

Result, all out with the First Test going to the Aussies on Day 4.

My friend, there was no competition in the 1st Test, I'm not even sure the England first XI turned up!!!!

Here's hoping to giving you a run for your money in the 2nd Test...

There is not much wrong with the English 11. Even your Captain appears to be a nice bloke.

On the other hand we Aussies are lacking.

Although I said that I believe we will take the Prize when the season ends.

If it matters, there was no rain today.

2nd Test End of Day 1.

Australia have taken the batting to England with a good 1st day start of 273 - 5

Day 2 all to play for, England need to remove the last 5 wickets as quickly as possible and get into bat..

It should be a big day tomorrow being Saturday and with the new stadium on show.

England need to steady the ship.

An almost run out on the second last ball is unforgivable.

At the moment it is too early to call.

Day 3 will sort things out, I would think.

From the air the new Adelaide Oval looks like a giant toilet seat. England have dutifully deposited a load of crap in the centre of it.

The Aussies have two Test wins under their belts and emphatic wins at that... Did the England XI turn up, think they were left behind in the pavilion...

It's not looking good, Perth next to play, a traditional Bogie ground for England...

If England are going to retain the Ashes they are going to have pull the proverbial cat out of the bag..... otherwise this is going to be embarrasing...

I can't see England getting anywhere near a win this time.

It will however be fun watching them try.

Fighting Talk from the England captain in a Press Conference this morning, the team are fired up for Perth and are determined to get a result...

Let's hope the result is not another Loss...

England did indeed come out fighting in Perth, but the impressive Hosts have racked up and impressive 326-6 and still going.

The England boys need to get the tail enders out quick when play resumes tomorrow to stand any chance of winning this 3rd Test and salvaging the Ashes....

A tall order....

I think you have good cause to complain about the second wicket.

John Root I think it was.
