It is possible to get an Access WEB front end to run on a Linux server? The back-end database will be PostgreSQL. If it is not possible to get access to run on Linux, can you recommend some other 'Access' like front-ends that can be deployed on Apache/Tomcat on a Linux server.

Hi. Are you looking for a desktop front end application or a web app one?

Hi Gregory
The simple answer is no. Similarly not possible on Apple OS or Android.
However you could install a Windows virtual machine using Virtual Box or similar and then install Office on that.

Your question is a bit vague about what you actually want to do - develop or execute

there are these opensource options
https://opensource.com/alternatives/access

however no experience of any of them so no idea if they are right for your requirement. I think it is safe to say there is nothing like access for ease of use and general stability. And nothing that will convert it to use in another application.

as far as an access web front end is concerned since that runs in a web browser I don't see why not in principle - (I presume you can link to postgreSQL) but it would need to be developed on a windows machine - and access web is no longer supported so likely to be a dead end in the long run.

Alternatives to developing web front ends to access - there are loads, some are opensource some platform specific - suggest review this link
https://alternativeto.net/

However all will have a very steep learning curve compared with Access

I will be developing on a windows WS. I would like to deploy to the mass the Web version. That way I do not need to deal with the BE DB interface on individual computers, nor the setup on Access Runtime.

Access is a good quick front end, as for being a BE is is very limited.

Would like to 'front end' to be a web based front end. That is the end goal.
In that case, it probably won't be in Access then. However, you do have a few choices for building a web app. Since you'll be using Linux, you might look into PHP, Perl, or Python (just to name a few). Good luck!
