1 table or 2?

I have to store information about parents i.e. mother and father, however what do i do to make access happy with just either 1 set of information, i.e. either 1 set of information will be sufficent, but atleast 1 full set is required. THX!!

OK! there pretty much isnt any processing in the table, it's simply there for keeping. So i was thinking, if possible 1 Table contains both father and mother details, data is entered via a form of cos.

yeah, however i need to know how to make it so access wont complain when 1 set of the data is missing, as the fields are required.

sorry I misunderstood you,

if mothers will have differant fields to those of fathers then you need two tables.
