I have an Access 2007 database with a Front end/Back end setup. Whenever I open the Front end, the file size increases dramatically. I do not have to make any design changes for this to happen.
I found a Hotfix on the Microsoft site, KB960307, which, among other things, address the problem of "The file size of an Access 2007 file spontaneously increases in increments of 4 KB after you open and close a form." I checked my file and this does seem to be the problem, however I cannot install the Hotfix. I think this is because I have the later service packs installed, which should include the fix anyway.
I have set the database to compact on close, but if anyone can tell me (a) how to stop the bloating, or (b) how to install the Hotfix (ideally without having to reinstall Office!), I'd really appreciate the help.
