Access 2007 - weird stuff in forms

these are things that work fine in 2003

i have filters on my forms, where you can filter records on first, last name and other things
after the first search the filter stops working, it starts giving wrong results
it works the first time after opening, but then stops
or i can get it to work if i take out all filters and then try


another thing, things like total number of records and other calculations don't come up
there's just a blank field
but if i press any button on my taskbar to go to another open program and then click back to access - they appear
what the hell is that about

there are other glitches, can't think of them now
and as i siad, all that stuff works fine in 2003

anyone knows how to fix it?

Usually, no matter how weird the problem, there'd always be someone smart and everything got fixed

oh well, i won't renew this thread again

I've found quite a number of frustrations when people who have been using my databases successfully using Access 2000, 2002 and 2003 for years and suddenly things stop working. I am completely perplexed why they've removed the ability to export Reports to Excel (no, exporting the underlying table or query is not a good workaround as it doesn't maintain the report's formatting) or the ability to drag and drop to build menus whereas now you have to code it all. I can't think of any other product that replaces a graphic interface with the need to code and calls it an "upgrade".

As far as your filters, one thing that seems to have changed is how you refer to your combo boxes or whatever provides the filter data.

For example:

In the past if you had a combo box (cboLastName) that you drop down to see everyone in your table whose name is Charlie:

Me.Form.Filter = "firstname= forms!frmMyForm!cboFirstName"

After people getting Access 2007, I found that this stopped working. Must have made a lot of people smile that the program they've been using for 8 years stopped working.

What I found you have to do now is use quotes:

Me.Form.Filter = "Firstname = """ & forms!frmMyForm!cboFirstName & """"

Note the double quotes, as the program would crash if you use single quotes and it encounters a name like O'Neil.

By the way, did you install the first "service pack" for the first few hundred glitches in Office 2007 yet?

did you make a mistake?
should it be 2 or 3 quotes and when do i use single quotes and when double
