Hi.

We use an Access 97 database over our network.
We need to put it on additional PCs, but do not have current licenses for this.

Is there an Access 97 clone that we could use?
It wuld simply need to serve as the Front-End of the database and be able to connect safely to the MS Access 97 Back-End.

Can't you use any newer versions as a front end?

Between our mandated procurement process and budget, 'No' is the immediate, simple answer.

Does not sound like managment wants a solution very much - Maybe you should get out the magic wand...

Actually, I think you used to be able to package and distribute Access runtime in '97 but I can't remember... Sorry....

You would have to find an old copy of the Office Developers Edition for Office 97 at an online auction like ebay. Owning Office Developers Edition allows allows you to distrute unlimited royalty free runtime versions of Access 97. Search around for the is a lot of information in this forum on the subject.

Good luck!

OpenOffice?

Have you considered running openoffice? I believe it had functionality to connect to Access databases. ..

If you do use the runtime and have a fairly complex project, I would check your results even if you don't recieve any errors.
Just dont assume that if you use the runtime that you are automatically home free.
