I do databases for small stores, etc. They consist mainly of customer info. I've come across problems in working with clients that don't have Access on their machines. I seem to remember hearing that there is a program that would make a CD a stand alone program. Any feedback would be welcome. Thanks.

In the Microsoft Access Developer Edition, you can create stand-alone runtime Access Databases. Go to MS to learn more about it.

Access Run Time

Thanks for all your replies. I do seem to be getting conflicting information. Is there a run-time program I can get without spending a fortune on MS Developer? With Developer or another program, can my customer add new names or run macros and queries?

Fortune? In the UK you can buy Office Developer for about 600 pounds. A standalone version of Access is about 150 pounds. That looks like a break even after 4 systems.

The other program you need is Access! An installation based on the runtime version will allow the user to do whatever you have programmed. If you want to allow them to create their own macros or queries, they need Access. I don't know what you mean by 'names'.

The market place has driven the price of Access down pretty low. I used to develop in Borland Paradox and my users had to buy full licences at about 350 pounds a throw. That was about 15 years ago...
