Hello,

This is my first post, my apploises in advance if this is thred is in the wrong place.

i am having trouble with my access on my work computer....

we have the database on our network server of which 7 computers use everyday (including me before i had to reinstall)

the other week i had to fomat my computer and had to do a full reinstall of vista and office, which had no problems untill
i try and open the database from the network in access but it just freezes and does nothing i can use my pc while access is not responding, but to close access i have to turn the pc off by the switch.

the next thing is if i copy and paste the database file from the network to my desktop it works fine.

i am lost of what to do any help will be great

Thanks

Is this database split (frontend and backend where backend has just tables and is on the server and the frontend is a COPY and is on everyone's machine)? If not, it needs to be. See here for more about why and how.

I don't know if the OP's database is split, but I'm having a similar problem and mine is a split database. We use this same format for a number of project sites and it's only the one site that is having issues (we checked to make sure it wasn't our computers or Access itself).

The backend seems to be just fine, it's the frontend that won't behave properly. Both databases are on a server in their own site specific project file. So other than one copy each that I've placed on my desktop to mess with (so as to leave the originals intact etc), there aren't any other copies.

The frontend will open, but there is a "entry" form of sorts with control buttons (I think that's the proper term), and none of them work. Clicking them produces no action whatsoever, not even an error message.

Thanks in advance!

EACH USER should have a copy of the frontend on their machine. You should not share a copy of the frontend. Not only will it increase your chances of corruption but it also will cause you problems such as slow downs, etc.

I was afraid of that when I read your reply to the OP. Is there any way possible to rescue the corrupt frontend?

(slowly but surely I WILL conquer Access :D)
Take the attitude of a sea captain. The sea (Access) is powerful and, while you have some control over certain aspects, some you do not and it is knowing when to lower the sails and let it take you where it may, is a balancing act. :D
