Paste some text that includes a Tab character into a text field (or bound control on a form).

Now try to edit the text.

Guaranteed to do in the mind of an unsuspecting victim.

(Access 2010, mdb file, Windows 7 Pro)

Hi,

I'm trying to repro the issue you are seeing on my own test machines. I've tried your steps on Access 2010 with an MDB file on Windows 7 and I'm still able to edit the text in this scenario.

Can you provide some more detail on what issues you are encountering here?

If there is a bug here, I'd like to make sure I can repro it before entering it into our system.

Thanks,

A2010 (original file A2007 - so nop MDB), Win7:

abc(tab)efg where (tab) is the tab character, in Notepad.

If copied and pasted into a rich-text field, no issue.

If copied into a normal text field, it looks like this (cursor one space to the right off letter g):

then, if I press BACKSPACE once, then it looks like this:

and the cursor, not shown here, is one space after f. The cursor remains with one space between it and the remainder of the text, if I keep pressing BACKSPACE, until I delete the original tab character, and now there is no more space between cursor and text.

Spike shows what happens for me but I had the tab at the beginning of the text.

Also try backspacing in the middle of the text, then move to another record.

I discovered this bug after pasting text from a bulleted list in Word then trying to clean it up.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the additional information on the issues you are facing here and the expanded repro steps.

With the additional information I can also repro the issue on my test machines now. In the backspace scenario that is indeed very odd. It's almost like a magic eraser - removes one letter from the end even though the cursor is not in that position. Very weird indeed.

I'll log this issue into our system here in case we don't already have it logged.
Thanks for passing this along.
