Hello again folks.

Having spent a week building my database and everything is working as expected - I set the 'startup' properties and now Access won't save or quit from the main form. In order to close I have to select 'form design' and then the 'X' will work. This goes for all the methods of closure including the menu and system buttons. I cannot access the cnt/Alt/Del with this system but that's immeterial. I'm using XP and Access 2000.

I have tried removing all the conditionally formatted controls.

Help please!!

Chalkie.

My next step would be to import everything into a new .mdb. - You may have a corrupt object or pc of code floating around somewhere...

Are you setting the startup properties programmatically?

A little far fetched:
Sometimes the popup requesting you to confirm some action is hidden behind Access. Eventhough it is there where the OS is waiting your answer you can't click it because you can't see it. Alt-Tabbing to Access often reveals the popup again. Giving you control over the application again.

Good idea but no dice. And I set the startup properties from the 'Tools' menu.

Which "X" are we talking about because it sounds as though your form is pop up and modal?

Thanks everyone - solved.

Following KenHigg's advice I tried to import everything into a new database and got an error message because of a conflict with one of my subform's names. I deleted the same subform from the original database and then re-built it and hey-presto it all works fine. I might even go home early!!

Thanks again. Chalkie.

Cool - You do know that the honey-do-list is waiting at home... :)

"Go home" is a euphemism. There may be beer involved ;)
