I have been trying to use the No Data Event, initially with success. If my report contains No Data, then it does not display anything on screen and I can organise a "No data" message to confirm this. Fine.

However, I want to have the option of displaying/printing the blank report for Audit/Completeness purposes (eg it may be a monthly activity report, where the recipient is expecting a statement every month, and they need confirmation that its not just me forgetting to send it).

I have included an extra textbox in my report header to show '-No Data this month etc -'; I make this initially invisible, then visible on entry to the No data event.

Problem is this: Once I am in the No Data Event, the report has already been disabled, (because there is no data to display).
How can I get the report to detect No Data and give me control over whether or not to display/print it?

One strange (to me) observation, if I stay in design mode I get what I need, a display of a blank report plus my No Data textbox message!

Any thoughts appreciated. Ta.

Use DCount on the original query to see if any records are being returned
