Adding a field

I have created a table that contains in excess of 1,100,000 rows. However I do not have a unique record (key) for each row due to the way the system was set up prior to my extract.
Is there any way I can created a formatted field that looks something like this

INTELL0000000 - where the count of the zeros is increased by 1 for each record??

Can't you just Format a new autonumber field?
