After update event = no updates

Hi there all i need to set a field on my form not to accept any updates to what ever was typed in the field before it was saved the first time kinda like After update event = no updates

Any idea on how this can be achived please.

Enabled = No and Locked = Yes on the control that displays the field you want to keep from changing.

but this will stop any data being entered into that field, i need it to allow data entry and then stop any updates if you know what i mean?

Never edit the data again? What if there is a typo? I would probably use code in the Current event to lock the control but under exactly what conditions can be the tricky part.

Maybe don't lock it if Me.NewRecord = True otherwise lock it.
