Alternate back color does not work

In Access 2007, you can set the alternate back color so every other row of a report has a different background color. This works great unless you have a subreport in the detail row of the report. It does not matter whether it is set to visible or not, if it is there at all, the alternate row color does not work.

Is there a workaround for this?
