Trump has gone, for now at least. The Democrats have control of Big Tech and the mainstream media. Conservatives are being cancelled left, right and centre. Immigration is on the up, increasing the Democrats base. Texas is becoming more Democratic all the time, with the exodus from California contributing to an electoral college problem in that state. Parler is banned, hate speech laws are on the up, with Conservatives shoehorned into speech patterns that contradict their own beliefs. Democrats dominate college and universities, moulding minds as part of the "education" process, with the 1619 project taking over as the "accurate" version of events. All Republicans are now classified as "white supremacists", where a denial becomes classed as evidence for their label.

Are the Republicans finished? Do they have any chance at all?

The RNC called me a few days ago looking for money and my response boiled down to two things.
1. Ditch Mitch
2. I want to hear Republican members of Congress every day on TV, YouTube, Twitter, FaceBook, whatever they're not cancelled from talking about how bad the cancel culture and the blacklisting of Republicans is for the country. This rhetoric is dividing us further and is the antithesis of what Biden said he wanted. AOC accusing Cruz of attempted murder should be playing multiple times every, single day. Follow up with "my" own village idiot Chris Murphy predicting that Trump will encourage his supporters to attack the Capitol again. And let's not leave out Pelosi telling us that the enemy is in the House.

The ONLY way the Republicans can recover is to grow a pair and stand up for their constituents.

Good question. The allure of government as "Bid Daddy" (Nanny State) to take care of you grows at the expense of personal responsibility for taking care of yourself. Additionally, the US is going through a period of mass hysteria that mimics the old "French Revolution", less the guillotine (at least for now).

You did overlook the premise that the Democrats continue to import immigrants from South America and to propose citizenship for those already here. The theory behind that, is that the Democrats are doing this is to create a permanent underclass class dependent on the government. That translates into easy votes for the Democrats. Anecdotally, that may be the case as the urban poor appear vote heavily Democratic. (More research would be needed to confirm.)

With a few exceptions like Rand Paul, Matt Gaetz and Jim Jordan the rest of the Republican party is very fearful of naming calling from the left. They continually breaks ranks and side with Democrats. Democrats rarely break ranks. I am more concerned with conservatism then any particular party. I would gladly vote for a conservative Democrat maybe a Tulsi Gabbard type if she would run.

I didn't overlook that. It was exactly what I meant by expanding their voter base. I did a post on it somewhere else on the forum, where open borders is a strategic ploy by the Democrats to incrementally increase the number of new Democrat voters.

See this link: https://www.access-programmers.co.u...-to-increase-the-democrats-voter-base.315945/

In any case, we are on the same page, thinking wise.

I don't think the Republicans are finished yet but Trump has split the support. They are in a cleft stick. Some would renew their faith in the party if enough of the Senate were to back the impeachment. Of course Trump supporters would react badly but they are not going to vote Democrat are they?

They will be in huge trouble if Trump were to carry through with his threat to form a new party. Removing Trump and his supporters would make it more palatable for some Democrat voters to shift to Republican.

The big problem of course is there is no preferential voting system in the USA so a split Republican Party would be be a disaster for them. Democrats should start campaigning for Trump to form his Patriot Party.

Parler is banned, hate speech laws are on the up, ...
Your post alludes to another dimension that is castrating the ability of conservatives to "survive" and deserves greater focus. The Democrats have been (and since "winning" in 2020 will be re-invigorated in) using the "power-of-the-sate" to suppress conservatives. A very early example occurred when the Obama/Biden administration used the IRS to suppress the ability of the "Tea Party" to organize. Not quite the same as banning Parler, but the same intent. More to the point, the Obama/Biden administration used the government intelligence community to spy on the Trump campaign.

With Biden now President, it would seem to be a no-brainier, that the intelligence community will resume that type of activity. In fact, Biden's inauguration speech spoke of implementing a "war" on domestic terrorism. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently issued an alert: DHS Warns Of 'Heightened Threat Environment' From Domestic Terrorism. Troops still "occupy" Washington DC weeks after the inauguration under the guise of "protecting" Congress. The stage is being set for increased surveillance legislation and (suppression) activities to supposedly "protect" democracy; but would be, in reality, aimed at suppressing conservatives.

Recent examples of the Democrats of the Democrats using political power to knee-cap conservatives include the very obvious Kangaroo Court style impeachments of Trump. With the new 2020 Congress, Democrats have been emboldened to call for the actual removal of Republican Congress people. Democratic lawmakers call for removal of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene over incendiary rhetoric. Multiple Democratic senators call for Cruz and Hawley to resign. Additionally, consider my often repeated allusion to Orwell's "1984" and McCarthyism, where the Democrats alluded to "enemies lists" and "re-education camps". Conservative will soon be "enemies-of-the-state".

The Biden administration is still "young" so it may be a while before some of this stuff materializes. The seeds are highly visible. The Republicans, may not simply be "finished" because of their own disorganization and lack of messaging, but may be "finished" due to the Democrats using the "power-of-the-state" to drive conservatives underground.

Game Theory suggests one of the best approaches is tit-for-tat. I look forward to multiple impeachments of Biden/Harris when the Republicans next get the house. The bar has been set low.

Jon,
If you can hide just this forum from the search engines, we would appreciate it. Besides, you don't want to have your site brought down for harboring "hate" speech.

Impeachment v2.0 is becoming a problem for democrats because voters in battleground states who see this as a political stunt to keep President Trump from holding office in the future, depriving him of secret service protection and a presidential library. In other words this is political sanction not a constitutional sanction. If it was constitutional John Roberts would preside over the trial not Patrick Leahy.

Seven of the ten Republicans who voted for impeachment will be facing challenges to their seats. They only have to look at Liz Cheney to see what their future holds. Cheney is the third ranking Republican in the house and she NOW has a 13% approval rating. Liz Cheney could be removed from key committees she currently chairs.

President Trump has a reported 70-million-dollar war chest to mount a comeback and to primary rhinos who voted for impeachment. VOTER REFORM will be the new rally cry, not MAGA.

Impeaching a private citizen is not only a waste of time and money but it makes the Democrats look really really dumb.

There won't be any third party, Trump has specifically debunked that conspiracy, and the Republicans will be fine. Both parties have had controversial people in them - especially Democrats - and still been fine in the longer term.

... Impeaching ... but it makes the Democrats look really really dumb.
The Democrats may seem dumb when rationale thinking is applied, but Democrats don't seem to care because they have successfully hood-winked the gullible public into believing them. Furthermore, we are in a period of mass hysteria where rational thought has been replaced by a form of religious cultism inflamed by the Democrats (Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS)). So no matter how "dumb" we may think the Democrats are, the gullible masses, like lemmings will unthinkingly follow the Democrats off the cliff into the ocean. The Democrats are in a shark feeding frenzy for "blood" (retribution).

Voter reforms are the only way Republicans stage a meaningful comeback. One person one vote with picture ID period. Otherwise the sham will continue.

I've been trying since December to get my state senator to work with me on how to reform voting. He doesn't seem interested. Neither does the RNC. Both of CT's Senators are the worst of the worst in the Democrat field. It wouldn't surprise me at all to find out that the Democrats have been stuffing the ballot box for years. I'm not sure how to wrest control of the counting from the Democrats but that also needs to happen. I think the problem there is that they control the big cities in most states and it only takes a few corrupt people in the right places to get bogus ballots counted or the same ballots counted more than once. Republicans need to see that voting can be corrupted and right now, they've still got their heads in the sand.

The only chance for the republicans is to persuade Barack Obama to join them and lead the party.

House ousts Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from committees in unprecedented vote
Democrats said they were forced to take action to uphold the standards of decency in Congress because Republicans refused to penalize Greene for her history of incendiary remarks.
Greene, a Republican, gets axed by the Democrats from committees for using "extremist" language. What should concern people based on the theme of this thread (Are the Republicans finished?) is that the Democrats are using the "Tyranny of the Majority" to crush a Congress person of the opposing party thereby contributing to the theme of "finishing" the Republicans. How many more Republicans, in the future, will be "neutralized" by the Democrats deploying the failure to uphold subjective "decency" standards tactics as only defined by the Democrats?

There are some sub-themes that need to be considered:
  • The Democrats never seem to punish their own for indiscretions. One example, Maxine Waters telling the public to physically accost Republicans. Another example, Eric Swalwell having an inappropriate relationship with a Chinese spy.
  • Committee assignments (by tradition) are made by the political party that the Congress person belongs to. As such, the Democrats by voting to oust a Republican are breaking that tradition.
  • I missed this one. One commenter wrote: "What's the point of electing people if those in power simply strip people's power away when sent to Washington. Even if she hadn't apologized, her people voted for her! Is this democracy or isn't it?"
  • The Democratic action sets a bad precedence. What happens when Republicans are in charge and can use the "Tyranny of the Majority" to oust Democrats? Democrats, if one looks at their recent history: the Russian collusion hoax, the failed Mueller Investigation, and the two Kangaroo Court style impeachments of Trump, are acting out their irrational hysteria. They don't seem to be aware that someday they may no longer be in the majority and that all the bad precedence setting actions they have done may come back to haunt them.
  • Eleven (11) Republicans unfortunately voted with the Democrats. Maybe they had some ethical justifiable reason for going along with the Democrats. Nevertheless, there is a political angle that the Republicans should not have ignored (and which will contribute to Republicans being "finished"). You will never have 11 Democrats support a Republican resolution to oust a Democrat who publicly advocated "extremist" positions. (Prior to this action against Greene (a Republican) Democrats would not have been involved in removing Greene. It should have been solely a Republican decision.)

They hypocrisy of the Democrats is so blatant, it is only the press that is keeping the voters from revolting. Pelosi is quite all right with her boy Swalwell sleeping with a Chinese spy and keeping his top security clearance and his intelligence committee position. Why the hell did the Chinese target him? So, they would have an inside track to intelligence!!!!!! Diane Feinstein had a spy for a driver and aide for 20 years!!!! That was OK too.

My one and only counter argument to Democrats not turning on their own, would be Al Franken. They turned on him very, very quickly and forced him out.

The left does eat their own but only if the victim has no importance currently.

Diane Feinstein had a school named after her in San Francisco. The school board is now renaming the school to something else because of something Feinstein said THIRTY-SEVEN years ago!!!!

This is what the school board in SF thinks is important. Screw educating our children. We are woke and we have an agenda and if your kid doesn't learn anything for a year or two, so what. WE are the important people. WE are the once who matter.
