I realise that you are winding me up Ken but others might not hence the correction being spelt out.

Brian

I honestly didn't see what you were meaning. Sorry - :)

I'm thinking of applying to join your and rich's gang as reasonable comment is just not acceptable to certain people, might as well just criticise.

Brian

It's always nice to try and educate the colonies. Welcome to the fold. Sadly if the posts are not read and the Yanks think they know it all already then what more can we do?

BTW - I always get up at 7:30am, just habit.

This is to inform you that while you are asleep, someone is logging on in your name and posting outrageous anti-american messages.

You should change your password. :D

If we had better teachers maybe we could learn something. The teachers around here just keep saying the same ole boring thing.:p

It's the things you learn after you know it all that are really important.

My teachers used to give us a page from the dictionary to copy.

Really emprovd your speling and vocubilary :D

If only, I can't remember why I was in detention and doing lines- it happened a few times, it made a refreshng change from being made to pick litter all day. Would explain why I fucked the place off and left school at 13, which would explain a lot since!

Ho hum.:D

"Nothing of any importance in life can be taught in a classroom"

Sister Mary Theresa.
She wielded a nasty yardstick.

It all gets a bit foolish doesnt it. Aborigines may still be malnourished, wandering nomads chasing a diminishing number of kangaroos around the country if white settlement did not happen. Would modern Aborigines think this to be a good thing?

Unfortunately many aboriginal Australians are malnourished and unhealthy in modern Australia. They have very high rates of diabetes and many other illnesses. Their average life expectancy is decades less than other racial groups.

It is unsurprising since they had been subject to so much discrimination and abuse. They were deprived of modern education and when given jobs they were comletely exploited.

They often had their children taken from them until the mid 1970s.

We have much to apologise for.

Reminds me of my Aussie sister in law - when talking about lawyers/accountants or some such job in Australia, said that no aboriginies would be any good at these jobs. She was questioned very carefully about what she meant - had upbringing, meant they lacked the educational resources to enable them to fulfill their potential, or such like? No, that wasnt what she meant at all - just they were incapabable of such jobs full stop.

(she also cried when our group checked into a hotel in Italy she had booked for everyone - why? - cos , the guy on reception was Sri Lankan and "these are the ones trying to kill us!")

Welcome to Australia!

We have nothing to apologise for.

We can try to help but as they say, "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink"
