Auto CD Number

Scenario

A library of film CDs. It is to keep track of all CDs that have been filmed for all different projects.

The problem is I cant find a way to automatically generate the CD Number I want.

Each project has a Prefix, for example the project New Build will have the prefix NB. The first CD for that project will have the CD number NB0001.

Any ideas?

How about you make it easy on yourself??

Make composit key of 2 fields,
Field1 Autonumber
Field2 Type

Except your type/numbers will not be sequential but it will work.

It seems to be what you want.... with some little tweaks
