Hi

Does anyone know if it is possable to get access to complete some fields based on data you have already entered? For example, if there were 2 fields 'title' and 'sex', is it possable to set the database up so that when you select Mr, the next field automaticly enters male?

Yes it is possible, but what would you do if the title was Dr. ?

that was just an example, thought it would be easy to explain that way. Its actualy for a databse i am producing to track my work, when i select a name from a drop down list (already done) it auto populates the dept that person works in.

You don't need to populate the field. You should hold the ID of the person, not the name or department. When you want to show the name or department you join the person table and pull the fields at that point.

In your data entry form, you need a three column combo box with the ID, name and department. The ID is the bound column but set the column width to zero so it's hidden. Show the name column and set the department column to zero. In the after update event of the combo you can add some code that poulates another control on your form with the department.

I'd give you an example but my Access installation is corrupted. (******* Active Directory!!!!)
