Auto Expand on ComboBoxes

I am using autoexpand on all my combo boxes but it doesn't seem to work if the field is an autonum (should it) ? It works fine for character fields.

I have a similar problem. I have created a combo box that searches a table for client numbers but in some cases, a client number isn't required, leaving a null value in the client id field on certain records. The auto expand doesn't seem to work at all if even one record has a blank client id field.

Can anyone explain this?
