Hello, Can anyone help me with this ?

Firstly, I have a form that is used by approximately 50 people to log incidents.

Each person belongs to a particular group of 10 people (Group1,Group2,Group3,Group4,and Group5)

When the form is opened up, the person logging the incident appears in the field [LoggedBy].

I would now like another field on the form [Group] to be populated with the relevant group that the person belongs to. e.g.

[Logged By] [Group]
Joe Bloggs Group1
Fred Bloggs Group3
etc

I have a table called [main], which has each person, and the group they belong to.

What would be the best way to achieve what I want ?

Well at some point you will have to have a place for the user to tell the database who they are.

This is usually done through some kind of log on procedure, possibly requiring a name and password. This information can be stored in the table you were talking about. It will also have the group information associated with it.

Once you have the name of the user then the group should be available through the same record where the name was derived from.

If you need a hand email me.
