There is a difference between being "woke" and being "fair-minded." My views are tempered by science and by personal observation.

For instance, immigrants get a lot of heat these days. Much of the work done on my house after the last two hurricanes was done by immigrant - but legal resident - labor. They offered no problems, got the job done and cleaned up nicely. They pay taxes. They stimulate the economy with their purchases just as I do. They like Chinese buffet restaurants just like I do. And in the recent elections, they were as incensed as I was about the illegal immigrants. They complained about the folks who didn't do as they did, waiting in lines to get processed legally.

Over the years I have known many gays and in fact have a gay daughter (and recently, a gay daughter-in-law). All of the gays I have ever engaged in conversation are reasonable, rational people who just don't want their rights to be truncated. People complain about how rowdy certain gay organizations conduct their parades. They condemn Gay Pride parades. Yet I have seen Irish-American, Italian-American, Oktoberfest, and Mardi Gras parades that are also a bit over-the-top. I don't condone violence, but a little noise-making and otherwise just blowing off steam doesn't bother me.

People complain about others who are different. But the question is whether those people who are different are law breakers or merely folks who celebrate a bit differently than we do. I see folks doing various things in celebration of life and can drive past without condemning them. If that makes me woke, then guilty as charged, but I see it as just learning to live and let live.

Believe me, in my actual heart and mind I am VERY compassionate-minded towards immigrants. My own wife is Mexican and I have seen and heard a lot of stuff that has taught me to be very compassionately minded toward the situation.

But still .... the millions and millions and millions that recently flooded across the border? They got to go home.

If I see Trump deliberately mistreat them during that process, though, I might be incensed enough almost to protest-vote for a Dem next time, so he better not - that's not cool

Trump will be accused of deliberately mistreating the illegal immigrants. The media will see to it!!!
I recall when Trump was first elected that the Washington Post had a prominent picture of a dead baby blaming Trump for that (immigration) death. AOC weeped at the border as an anti-Trump publicity stunt. The there was in infamous "cages" accusation where Trump was blamed for something that Obama actually did.

Currently, under Biden/Harris the media suppresses negative news concerning people dying as they illegally cross the border or the fact that the Biden/Harris administration has "lost" tract XXX thousand minors. Instead of those stories being suppressed, they will now be highlighted in bold print on the front page immediately after Trump's inauguration. The media will begin to run full page propaganda articles condemning Trump's atrocious policies in dealing with illegal immigration.

Hopefully we will be able to discern the truth concerning the treatment of illegal immigrants from the endless propaganda that will be spewed-out by the anti-Trump press.

Doc, not a single person here has ever said ANYTHING to disparage LEGAL immigrants.

Every single illegal immigrant is a criminal. They start by breaking our immigration laws. Then they break others every day they are here sucking off the teat of our welfare system. It doesn't matter that all they want is a better life for the most part. They are STEALING food from the mouths of poor citizens. They are stealing the roof over the head of homeless people. They steal the limited resources of hospitals and schools. In isolation, maybe they're "good" people but not once they embarked on their life of crime. No one is ENTITLED to just come here and suck us dry. If your home country is so bad, do what we did. Throw off the yolk of tyranny.

Trump has promised to start a mass deportation program. This is going to be very contentious and it will end up impacting millions of people who have been here for decades and thought they were safe. It will not be pretty but it must be done. People who break our laws without a care in the world cannot benefit from those very laws.
