I save a lot of images with the applications that I create. My current method is to create a specific folder in a folder named "Storage" per record (up to 5 images per record) using VBA and then save the image in that folder. Each image has a unique name of its own.

My question is, what is the best way of saving images. Should I just dump all the images in the "Storage" folder or, should I keep on creating a unique folder name to put each set of images in?

Example: (FOLDER)

(STORAGE)
TS_334_IMG_1.jpg
TS_334_IMG_2.jpg
TS_334_IMG_3.jpg
TS_334_IMG_4.jpg
TS_334_IMG_5.jpg
TS_335_IMG_1.jpg
TS_335_IMG_2.jpg
TS_335_IMG_3.jpg
TS_335_IMG_4.jpg
TS_335_IMG_5.jpg

OR

(STORAGE)
(Record_334)
TS_334_IMG_1.jpg
TS_334_IMG_2.jpg
TS_334_IMG_3.jpg
TS_334_IMG_4.jpg
TS_334_IMG_5.jpg
(Record_335)
TS_335_IMG_1.jpg
TS_335_IMG_2.jpg
TS_335_IMG_3.jpg
TS_335_IMG_4.jpg
TS_335_IMG_5.jpg

This depends.

The advantage of your current approch is that all the images for a partcular record are in one place.

Here is my criteria:

I deal with Artists who produce works of art. If they are a gallery artist then they have there own directory. If the artist is invited to show works of art for a mixed [artist] show and there are likely to only several images those images are in a general Image directory. If an artist becomes a regular exhibitor then the images can be moved into their own directory.

The advantage of separate directories is that you see any stray images that might have been put in the wrong directory. It really boils down to the number of images and the ease of managing these images.
