Granholm laughed and said, “That is hilarious. Would that I had the magic wand on this. As you know, of course, oil is a global market. It is controlled by a cartel. That cartel is called OPEC. And they made a decision yesterday that they were not going to increase beyond what they were already planning.” (emphasis added)
Another bizarre example of the Biden administration continuing to shift blame away from themselves to another entity. Granholm, the US Energy Secretary, acting as if she lacks any authority or any responsibility for the US to produce more oil. The US Government, as one example, unilaterally shutdown the Keystone pipeline project. Well if they can shut it down, Granholm could restart it if she wanted to. Granholm has no plan. The video clip ends there, but these interviewers need to press her on the fact that oil and gas production permits could be issued. So why aren't they being issued?

A earlier prior post below for some added context.
This thread has evolved into a climate change global warming discussion. Biden, once again, demonstrated that he is tone death when it comes to his policies creating problems. Biden can essentially "solve" these problems by simply withdrawing those ridiculous policies.

So Biden, disables the ability of the US O&G industry to produce and then demands that other countries produce more oil. Biden has absolutely no sense of responsibility that he created the problem that he is demanding that others solve. Furthermore, by demanding that OPEC and Russia pump more oil, all that Biden has done is to transfer the negative environmental effects from the US to foreign countries. That does not accomplish the claimed objectives of the Glasgow climate change summit to reduce CO2 emissions. There is an actual possibility that pumping oil in a foreign country with less environmental controls and the need to transport the oil thousands of miles in tankers will lead to greater CO2 emissions!

OPEC also laughed...

The President's plan was to restrict US production of fossil fuels and then ask other counties really nicely to make up the difference. Their response? Not our problem...

Today a new article popped-up. This article is a bit short on detail, so it is pretty much useless; but it does reemphasize that the Biden administration is potentially continuing its "war" on US energy production. Recall that the US Energy Secretary Granholm, when asked about how the US could solve it's energy concerns deflected to unbelievably laugh that it is up to OPEC to produce more!
I had never heard of "Line 5", so I went to the websites below. The first one had more information on why they believe "Line 5" should be shutdown. The second website is that of Enbridge, the company responsible for the pipeline. Again pipelines are the superior method of safely transporting hydrocarbons. This is another case of the Biden administration potentially exacerbating a shortage of hydrocarbon products in the US.
Since posting, another thought occurred to me concerning the upgrading of "Line 5" as it would be an infrastructure project , yet the Biden administration is unbelievably contemplating preventing it from occurring. Biden likes to brazenly tout how his administration will be creating high paying jobs, yet he has or will shutdown infrastructure projects that would accomplish that objective.

Further evidence that the Biden administration speaks with a "forked tongue" concerning energy policy. Since this thread started, Russia has invaded the Ukraine. The Biden administration has used this "opportunity" to blame the rise in oil prices on greedy oil companies claiming that they can pump more oil, should they want to. Yet "White House National Climate Adviser Gina McCarthy declared, “President Biden remains absolutely committed to not moving forward with additional drilling on public lands.”"

Kerry in a somewhat related but arrogant remark that exposes the administration's priority to end the use of hydrocarbons referred to Russia's invasion of the Ukraine as a "distraction" to the "green agenda".

It also needs to be reiterated, that instead or proposing more domestic energy production, the Biden administration has taken to groveling before other countries such as Iran and Venezuela to produce more oil. The Biden administration also approached OPEC to produce more oil. The response by OPEC was "go pound sand". The fact that the Biden administration has taken to begging "enemies" for more oil and ticking-off Saudi Arabia documents that Biden's assertions of being the "adult in the room" when it comes to foreign policy are laughable.

The Biden administration has also made releases from the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). This release of oil from the SPR is inappropriate since we do not have a national emergency and more domestic oil production can be authorized by the Biden administration This is nothing more than political theater that does not address domestic energy production short-falls and the rise of gas prices.
