The scholarship office at my school wants to make everything automated, and I have to help, so I am asking some of you with more experience to point me in the right direction. Here's what they want done:

When a student gets a scholarship, they receive a letter in the mail with the details of the scholarship, as well as a form to accept or decline the scholarship. We are going to change that so that they get an email with the info instead of a letter. I think we have that part taken care of...it's the next part that worries me.

Where the students used to fill out the paper and return it, we want to make it so that the email contains a link to a website where they can go and either accept or decline the scholarship. We also want the database to be updated when they do this so that we know who has responded, and then we can send reminders to those who don't after 30 days or so.

Is it possible to link a website and a database like this? It seems out of my grasp, but I am willing to try anything, and I have until February to get it done, with the help of another programmer.

Another issue is the security of the site...we want to make sure that only the students who got the email can log in and accept/decline scholarships. Is it possible to make a link that we can include in the email that can only be used once? I realize that this isn't really the place for web design questions, but I thought someone might know.

Thanks for reading all of that, and thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

If you use ASP all of these problems should be solved quite easily.
