Does anyone have a clue, an idea of how to build a database for this business?
its about a rental company renting out in the summer sports accessories, u can only rent for a full week so there are from 1-8 weeks to rent out,
the renters must pay a deposit of 600$ regardless of how long they rent it, when they finish the rent the company calculate who Owens for who,
to make it a bit more difficult, the items which are rent out, don't have a fixed price, because it depends on the season, can be cheap but can be expensive,

Welcome to the forums! We are the most active Microsoft Access community on the internet by far, with posts going back over 20 years!

Here are just a couple of tips for you:

1. Feel free to ask any question you like, however basic you may feel it is, or even if it has been answered before. Our expert members thrive on helping you out!

2. If you prefer a dark theme to the forums, just go to the bottom left of this forum and click "Default style". You will then see a selection of themes to choose from. I like Shades of Blue. :)

3. If you like any of the answers you get, feel free to click the "Like" link on the bottom right hand corner of the post. If you hover over the Like link, you can even choose the type of smiley.

Above all, hang around here, have fun, learn stuff and join in.

Hello there, Aber6874. I suspect that you have not received any assistance due to you posting in the "Introduce Yourself" Forum. I reported your post so that one one the Mods can move it.

In the mean time, have you looked into some of the templates that MS Access provides?

Welcome Aber,
This is a site where experts will help you to do things for yourself. Anyone who posts answers here could very easily build the database you described although more details would be required. However, we are not here to do work for you for free and we will not do your homework.

There are lots of templates that can get you started although you may have to think out of the box to find one that is similar in concept to your basic function which is renting something.

Open Access. You should see templates and links to get more. The one I found that is most likely to get you on the right path is the one named "lending library". If you search the internet for samples you might find one more specific to your needs. Don't worry if it is for an older version of Access.

The lending Library sample has three tables. Assets and Contacts are your two entities. Assets would be the accessories that you are renting and Contacts are the people who are renting them. The Transactions table is a junction table and it records each instance of when something was rented.

You would need to add the concept of a deposit. You can hard code the value or you could add a deposit amount for individual assets or a combination. You could have $600 as the default but have some different values associated with individual items.

Take a look at this template. Open the forms and see if you can figure out how they work. Then come back with specific questions on how to make this app suit your need.
