Calculating UP Time

I hope that someone can assist, I know its probably a basic formula, but I cant' figure it out. I"m trying to get the total uptime for 20 devices per month. I have the total downtime minutes and total business time minutes, but do i have to consider the total devices in my formula!!! because if I just say total downtime / by total availabe business time, then my number is very very large since that I only have for example 8 business hours per day and i'm calculating total downtime hour like 24 hrs per day. Any advice for my logic thanks.
