Hello everyone.

My name is Jay and I have been lucky enough to finally land a good job here in Spain after nearly two years of searching. My problem is that this job requires me to rebuild their (archaic) system. That may not sound like a problem to you guys but please consider that I am brand spanking new to database programming (arn't all CV's embellished a little?).
I am employed part time but am working all the hours I can at home trying to learn this impressive app but I have become stuck.
What I need to do (at the moment) is build a bookings database for the property agency. In this case this agency has properties (bricks and mortar objects) that it rents out to holidaymakers. What I need is a way to schedule the daily diary of each property and be able to reserve dates that arn't available to rent out. For example the property may already be booked or may need maintenance done on that day.
Would I have to make a massive table with each day specified in it with maybe a checkbox for it's availablility or can you guys see a more efficient way?

Thanks for taking the time to read my plea and I will be grateful (not to the point of sexual favours but almost... ) for any replies.

P.s if this post made little sense, I do apologise, I'm English

There a quite a few examples around the forum. Try doing a search for 'bookings database'.

Also try this link, it contains some data models and how to design a db, It has some useful tips on there, it might help you.
Sorry no examples just tells you how to do it.

Hope this helps.

Andy
