I've been working on forms, copied Northwind sample to my desktop to study and now every time I try to open a database, I'm prompted for a Logon password--I DID NOT EVER create one. How am I going to get around this so I can access Access? Please help!

Did you join a workgroup?

Your problem sounds like your computer joined an access security workgroup?

Your computer should be joined to the default system group found at C:\Windows\System\system.mdw. Open the Workgroup Administrator file at C:\Windows\System\Wrkgadm.exe and ensure you are joined to the C:\Windows\System\system.mdw file.

If you think your system.mdw has been altered and you are sure that you are not using any secured workgroups, you could copy the system.mdw from another computer. I suggest that you rename your system.mdw file just in case you need it back.

I will try that. Unfortunately it won't be until late today--I'm at work now and the problem is on the computer at home. I will copy the system.mdw file from a computer here. I'm also taking the Access Cd home in case I think I need to reinstall. Do you think uninstalling and reinstalling would dothe trick too?

You hit the nail on the head with the system.mdw file!!! I brought the "good one" home, copied it to the 2 locations it resided on my machine and everything is "backtonormal" I love it!!!! Thanks so much for responding to my ?????
