I've got two identical spreadsheets (same column names and datatypes) filled with patient names - the only difference is that it's two different sets of patient names. 60 rows in each sheet. I just want one sheet with 120 rows.

When I try to copy and paste using my mouse, the dest sheet gets overwritten. I end up with 60 rows, because the 60 rows on the clipboard ovewrite the 60 rows on the dest sheet. What am I doing wrong?

I am using right click > Insert Copied Cells and it fails regardless whether the cursor is in the left margin or in an actual cell.

Try as I might I cannot get this to fail, if I position the cursor on A1 and right click , insert copied cells select move cells down it moves the existing data down and places the copied data in front.

If I select another cell it just pastes the data starting from there.

Thanks Brian.

I'm not seeing an option to shift cells down. "Insert Copied Cells" is copying immediately. I'm using excel 2003, btw.

I'll probably upload the two sheets - the information isn't sensitive.

I'm on 2002 Sp3 so I am surprised that there is a difference.

If you left click A1 and then click Insert on the menu bar, then copied cells what happens?

Ok, I got it, I guess my usual way of selecting cells doens't work in this case (control-shift-arrow).

I now have a sheet1 of 129 rows, do you want me to post it back?

Brian

No, thanks, see my last post.

Thanks again !!!
