I just installed MS Office 2003 (incl Access 2003).

When I want to start a new database, I get the following message:
"Workgroup Administrator couldn't create the workgroup information file. Make sure that you have specified a valid path and file name, that you have adequate permissions to create the file, and that you have enough disk space on the destination drive. (-3100)"

After I have pressed "OK" I get the following message:
"Microsoft Office Access couldn't find file "ASIAN CHARS". This file is required for startup.

This strikes me to be very weird, because I have installed it with the one account on my PC (the same one I start Access 2003 with).
When I want to create a new workgroup information file, I double checked the path and it is correct.
And there is more then 30 Gb free space on my hard drive.

Also I didn't have another version of Office or Access before.

Can someone please help me with this big problem?

Thanks in advance

Are you sure that this is a legal copy of Office? You didn't buy it for $1.99 from some email offer did you?

I bought the Professional edition in a store.

But I can't see the problem if it were an illegal or legal version

Many of the bootleg copies for sale on the internet are intended for installation on a non-english version of Windows. I would search the Microsoft knowledge base for this error.

I already did that ;) , but no solution, that's why I'm trying it via this forum.
and FYI: I have a English version of Windows XP and Office 2003

Sorry, I searched the kb also and couldn't find anything. You might try posting to the MS Access newsgroup.
