CD Database Query

Hello,

Im making a cd database for my collection at home now ive got 2 tables for catagories one for the main catagories and one for subs. So on my main catagory ive got like DVD/VCD as a catagory. Now in my sub catagories ive created all the fields for the different types like music,software and listed the different types in that table. I need to find a way so that if i select other as a catagory that the other in the sub catagory table is only shown. I think this may need to be done with a query have tryed with no luck?
